The Legend
Nokke is a humanoid water spirit that appears in German mythology and folklore, often known for its ability to shapeshift. They are best known in Scandinavian folklore, with the female water spirit known as the Nixe and the male form called Nix being representative. Nokke is said to play enchanting music to lure women and children to lakes or streams to drown them. However, not all stories are malevolent, as in some tales, Nokke agrees to live with a human they have fallen in love with. They are typically described as residing near waterfalls or streams.
