천부인
Description
한국 설화에 등장하는 Deity. The Three Heavenly Seals, also known as Ch'ŏnbuin (Korean: 천부인; Hanja: 天符印), as recounted in the Sam
Origin & Background
The Three Heavenly Seals (천부인, Cheonbuin) are symbols bestowed by the deity Hwanin (환인, Hwanin) to his son Hwanung (환웅, Hwanung) to grant authority descending from heaven, as recorded in the 13th-century Samguk Yusa (삼국유사).
The Legend
The Three Heavenly Seals consist of three bronze items, known as a bronze dagger, a bronze mirror, and a bronze bell. These items were primarily used as religious symbols rather than tools for their intended purposes, and are considered unique to Koreans and their heritage. These relics are regarded as part of shamanistic tools known as mugus (무구) and are still used by Korean shamans today.
