수로왕(首露王, 42년 음력 3월 4일) ~ 199년 음력 3월 23일) , 재위: 42년 음력 3월 15일 ~ 199년 음력 3월 23일)) 또는 김수로(金首露)는 가락국(駕洛國)의 초대 국왕이며, 김해 김씨의 시조이다. 시호는 수릉왕(首陵王)이다.

Origin & Background

Suro Wang is the first king of the Gaya Kingdom, born on the 4th day of the 3rd month in the lunar calendar in the year 42, and reigned until the 23rd day of the 3rd month in the lunar calendar in the year 199. He is the founder of the Gimhae Kim clan and is posthumously known as Suryung Wang. According to the legend of his birth, in the 19th year of King Yuri of Silla (42), six golden eggs that fell from the sky on Mount Guji in the northern part of Gaya transformed into the kings of the six Gaya states, and Suro Wang is known to be one of them. It is said that Suro Wang lived for over 150 years.

The Legend

According to the legend of Suro Wang, he received a divine revelation and, along with nine officials and hundreds of people, sang the Gujiga to offer a sacrifice to the heavens to send down a king from Mount Guji. After that, a golden box descended from the sky, and the first child born from the six golden eggs inside was Suro Wang. He established his capital in Gimhae and founded the Gaya Kingdom, later becoming the king of the six Gaya states. Suro Wang is also famous for his victory in a drinking contest against Talhae.
