신령
Description
신령(神靈)은 한국 신화에서 신적인 힘을 지닌 초자연적 존재로, 힌두교의 데바, 신토의 카미에 대응되는 무속의 주요 숭배 대상이다. 산신과 산령, 산신령이 같은 대상을 일컬는다는 점에서 알 수 있듯이 한국 전통에서 신(神)과 영(靈)은 별개의 것이 아닌 합입될 수 있는 관념으로, 한국 민간신앙은 곧 신령숭배나 다름없다.
The Legend
Shinryeong (신령) are supernatural beings with divine powers in Korean mythology and shamanism, and they are major objects of worship. These include nature spirits, heroes, and deified ancestors, playing a central role in Korean shamanism. Shinryeong are summoned during gut (굿, shamanistic rituals) by mudang (무당, shamans). The pantheon of shinryeong has evolved over time, with over 130 shinryeong identified. In traditional Korean thought, 'shin' (신, god) and 'jeongnyeong' (정령, spirit) are not seen as separate concepts but as concepts that can be combined, and Korean folk religion is centered around the worship of shinryeong.
