The Legend

Kusarikku is a demon that appears in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, described as having a human's arms, torso, and head, along with the ears, horns, and rear of a bull. He is depicted as walking upright and serves as a gatekeeper protecting the inhabitants from evil intruders. He is considered one of the demons representing mountains, and in later iconography, he is illustrated holding a 'banduddû', which means 'bucket'. Additionally, in the inscription of Meli-Šipak, he is depicted holding a shovel.
