The Legend

Leakage generally refers to the way in which a fluid escapes from a system containing a container or fluid (usually through an opening), meaning a path through which the contents of the container can escape or external substances can enter the container. Leakage is typically unintended and therefore undesirable. The term leakage generally implies a gradual loss, while a sudden loss is usually referred to as a spill.
